The ACP National Board of Directors' Membership Engagement Committee is working on efforts to support more engagement of our members. One way is to periodically introduce both new and tenured ACP members.

Name: Donna Clark
Member since: February 10, 2016
Chapter: Orange County

Why did you join the ACP?

I joined ACP to further my education on the topics that are most important to industry professionals as well as to broaden my network within the continuity planning community.

Looking back over the years, what has been your best memory of the ACP?
I have so many great memories from ACP that it’s tough to narrow down to a single instance.  Aside from the fabulous annual holiday parties with friends I’ve made at ACP, and the tremendous wealth of information / content that each meeting provides, there are two memories that stand out for me.  I recall the County Sheriff presenting on ‘Active Shooter’ drills and protocols.  This was highly educational, very timely and simply fascinating to learn what actions they take, and how methodical they are during an actual active shooter event.  Another great memory was a meeting that focused on ‘How To Conduct an Exercise’.  The meeting simulated an exercise with members broken out into teams and evolving drill elements.  The experience was extremely eye-opening, fast-paced, fun and interactive!

What advice would you give new members?

Always engage in the conversations and topics, whether you have insight to add or questions to raise.  Also ensure you fill out the questionnaire at the end of the meeting with any new topics you would like discussed at future meetings.  From my experience, the Orange County Chapter does an excellent job of listening and responding to their members in this regard.
