In these modern and unprecedented times, with uncertainty running rampant, emotional intelligence is needed more than ever within emergency management leadership. This webinar will present a definition of emotional intelligence, first developed in 1995 by Daniel Goleman, and will discuss its essential linkage to emergency management leadership. Additional topics to be covered include emergency management leadership, leadership traits required for emergency managers, emotional intelligence & leadership, and emotional intelligence and emergency management. Research studies conclude that emotional intelligence has become increasingly more relevant and essential in senior management positions. Furthermore, in response to an emergency, one’s emotional quotient (EQ) may be more important than one’s intelligence quotient (IQ). The webinar will also focus on the critical role leadership and emotional intelligence behaviors play in emergency management response. Lastly, when one thinks of emotional intelligence, the word empathy comes to mind. In these uncertain times, with COVID-19 dramatically altering our way of life, a dose of empathy has its place! Let us use this conversational and interactive webinar to discuss this critical topic, which will hopefully enhance our emergency management profession during COVID-19 and well beyond.

Presented by:
Bob Sibik

Senior Vice President and Co-Founder,
Fusion Risk Management

Thank you to our sponsor

Returning to the workplace following a catastrophic event can be more disruptive than the relocation caused by the event itself. Due to the prevalence of the COVID-19 virus and recent civil unrest, that is more relevant today than ever before. Full recovery may still be months away.

In this webinar, Bob Sibik, Co-Founder and Senior Vice President of Fusion Risk Management, will discuss:
· Challenges that organizations will continue to face when returning to work
· What operating in the "new" normal looks like as restrictions get lifted
· The importance of an adaptive workforce, resilient processes, and integrated value chains
· How to avoid the pitfalls of returning to the workplace

It’s an elementary principle of risk management that you should design systems to withstand not just the best possible circumstances, but also the worst. It’s why structures are designed to withstand storms or earthquakes, not just days when Mother Earth is feeling kind. It’s why auto companies design car frames to hold up during an accident, not just to sit pretty in a garage. And it’s why organizations design — or at least should design — their information security protocols to withstand a breakdown in the usual flows of data and information.
