The current novel Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic has already resulted in nearly 24 million infections and 800,000 deaths worldwide so far. The global economy has lost nearly trillions of dollars, with ripple effects causing individuals and businesses serious financial harm. The impact on society, businesses, and especially essential workers has been overwhelming. The psychological effects of a constant news cycle, as well as information on the Internet, can easily become uncomfortable and anxiety-producing.

Disruption of services due to bans on travel or group activities, decreased staffing levels, increased demands for services, and potential problems with the supply chain will strain every part of the global economic system. The impact on those already struggling with mental illnesses and substance abuse problems can represent a critical challenge to their safety and survival, as well as work-related performance and productivity.

Safety and Security for the Work-From-Home Workforce

Thursday, December 17, 2020
1:00 PM Eastern | 12:00 PM Central | 11:00 AM Mountain | 10:00 AM Pacific

Recent research from Stanford suggests that 42 percent of the U.S. labor force now working from home full-time with another 33 percent are not working – a result of the impact of the lockdown recession. The U.S. is a now a working-from-home economy. Almost twice as many employees are working from home as at traditional workplaces.

As the nature of workplace has changed, the nature of workplace violence is also changing. Just because an employee has changed their work location does not mean there is no longer a risk of workplace violence or other safety concerns. Safety and security cannot begin and ends at the walls of the employer’s facilities or the perimeter of their parking lots. The employee working from home may still incur a risk of violence but not enjoy the physical security apparatus or violence prevention programs and practices in place in the traditional workplace, thereby creating a perfect storm of risk. Both employers and employees who are concerned with the possibility of violence encountered on the job would greatly benefit by a discussion of the contemporary workplace violence landscape.

  • How can ACP help you meet your professional goals?
After the networking session, Russ Laughlin will lead a round table of members with extensive experience or credentials with the focus on 2021:
  • As DRBC professionals, what kinds of issues or challenges do we expect to address?

We've recently experienced a renewed interest in ACP's Industry Sponsorship Program from companies providing products and services to contingency professionals. These individuals are responsible for a variety of mission critical functions including business continuity, disaster recovery, emergency management, and risk management.  This is an opportunity for industry organizations to tell your story and educate an expanding marketplace as to the value of your company deliverables.  As an Association Industry Sponsor you can be assured of significant exposure to our members in a variety of mediums including our weekly communication News & Views.

Further information on the program can be found under the "Sponsors" tab of the ACP website.  Why not take the opportunity to have a conversation with ACP staff regarding the program deliverables which best align with your strategic marketing plan.  They can be reached at This email address is being protected from spambots.
