Resilience in an Era of Constant Change: Why Our Profession Needs You

As organizations enter the final quarter of 2026, resilience professionals continue to face a business environment shaped by cyber threats, technology disruptions, workforce challenges, supply chain uncertainty, and extreme weather events. The ability to anticipate disruption, adapt quickly, and recover effectively is no longer simply an operational necessity. It is a strategic advantage.

Industry research shows that cyber events remain the leading resilience concern for organizations worldwide, followed by IT disruptions, financial conditions, and natural disasters. At the same time, the profession continues to evolve. Nearly 95% of organizations report moving toward more flexible, "incident-agnostic" planning approaches that focus on managing impacts rather than preparing for isolated scenarios.

Organizations are also increasing their investment in resilience capabilities. More than 65% report increased financial or resource support for business continuity and resilience programs, while nearly half have dedicated resilience leaders reporting directly to executive leadership or the board. These trends clearly demonstrate that resilience is becoming a core business function that enables stability, growth, and stakeholder confidence.

As our profession gains greater visibility and influence, the need for a strong community of practitioners has never been more important. The Association of Continuity Professionals (ACP) plays a vital role in connecting continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management, emergency management, and resilience professionals who are committed to advancing the field through education, networking, mentoring, and thought leadership.

But a thriving association depends on engaged members. Each ACP member has the opportunity to help strengthen our profession by sharing the value of membership with colleagues, peers, students, and emerging leaders. Every new member brings fresh ideas, new experiences, and additional expertise to our community. Together, we can expand our collective knowledge, increase our professional influence, and help organizations become more resilient.

This month, we encourage every ACP member to become an ambassador for the association. Reach out to a colleague, invite a peer to an event, or share your ACP experience with someone looking to grow their resilience career.

Grow the Profession. Grow the Community. Join ACP.

If you're not yet a member, now is the perfect time to join a network of professionals dedicated to protecting organizations and communities from disruption. If you're already a member, help us grow by inviting someone to experience the benefits of ACP.

One referral can strengthen our association. One new member can strengthen our profession.

Connect. Learn. Lead. Join ACP today and help build a more resilient future.
