A supply chain can be defined as a complex ecosystem of people, processes, technologies, and resources that are involved in creating and delivering a product or service from a supplier to a customer.  The more intricate and interdependent the supply chain is, the greater the risk it poses to an organization.

In today’s world, the frequent and seemingly endless occurrences of natural and man-made disasters have compelled organizations to adopt a more rigorous and proactive approach to risk management and Business Continuity planning to protect their supply chain ecosystem.  The reality is that events anywhere can impact any business at any time.  As a result, understanding the vulnerabilities of the supply chain and building end-to-end resiliency has become one of the most important initiatives and challenges for businesses today.

So, what are the fundamentals of supply chain continuity? Fortunately, the best practices and principles utilized by world-class organizations to address supply chain continuity are not a mystery and can be applied within any organization.  This informative session will present easy to understand concepts, techniques, and best practices that have been adopted by the world’s leading organizations in order to sustain an effective Business Continuity program throughout their supply chains.  This session will also examine the disciplines and key relationships that are essential to the architecture of a resilient supply chain.  Finally, this session will feature practical suggestions and insights on how to drive the innovation that is needed to build a resilient supply chain and achieve world-class Business Continuity results.

John has over 30 years of management experience in both the public and private sectors.  He is an experienced company President, C-Level executive, and Congressional appointee who possesses an outstanding combination of technology expertise and business acumen.  He has over 25 years of Business Continuity experience which includes directing the response efforts for many major disaster events.

John is currently the National Director of Business Continuity for Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, directing the continuity program for the world’s pre-eminent distributor of wine and spirits.  For his work in this role, John was awarded Southern Glazer’s highest Special Achievement Award for his outstanding efforts in building the enterprise Business Continuity program. In addition, he was also selected as a finalist for the prestigious Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII) Program Leader of the Year award.

John’s experience also includes being appointed to three terms of office by a special act of Congress to support the multi-billion-dollar modernization program at the IRS.  During this time, he directed the IRS’s Joint Operations Center, and the cyber security incident response and emergency operations centers.  He also built the IRS’s Disaster Recovery, Security Risk Management and Critical Infrastructure Protection programs.
