Liberty Valley Chapter: "The Biography of a Disaster: Ancestry, Life, and Legacy" presented by Walter Lawn

  • 18 Apr 2024
  • 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
  • 1041 W. Valley Road, Room 1006, Wayne PA 19087

Calling all ACP LV Members!

Mark your calendars and plan to join us for the first ACP LV 2024 in-person meeting! Lunch, networking, and an important presentation will be provided.

Feel free to invite a guest who might be interested in joining our ACP community. Be sure to register your guest so they can be admitted to the facility.

Please be sure to RSVP as soon as possible so your name (and your guest's) can be put on the security list allowing admittance to the building.

Our own Walter Lawn, CBCP, will review the causes of the 9/11 destruction of the World Trade Center, responses that reduced or heightened its impact, and its continuing legacy. Learning from the past is an important function for all of us and he explores how to anticipate and respond to contemporary disasters.

Walter is uniquely qualified to present this information as during his tenure as Disaster Recovery Planning Manager for the Americas at Marsh McLennan’s Global Infrastructure Technology organization he participated in many live recoveries, including the Philadelphia Meridian Building fire in 1991, the destruction of the World Trade Center in 2001, hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, superstorm Sandy in 2012, and hurricanes Harvey and Maria in 2017. He has presented on IT DR topics at ACP meetings, other professional groups, and to undergraduate college classes.

His account of recovery from the destruction of the World Trade Center, published by Heartwood Literary Magazine, can be read at: http://www.heartwoodlitmag.com/naming-the-dead

Please send any questions to Libertyvalleyacp@gmail.com. Hope to see you on the 18th!
