Surviving an Active Shooter

This training is directed toward all adult citizens. The purpose is to provide citizens with the mental and emotional tools with which to improve their chances of surviving an active shooter event.  It encourages students to use the powers of visualization to preprogram their minds with a logical predetermined response. To date this training has been presented to over 91,000 citizens.  Five survivors with this knowledge have been identified to date.

Stephen Daniel is the Senior Community Liaison for the Houston Police Department.  Mr. Daniel brings a dedicated passion for Active Shooter training as well as 42 years in security and law enforcement. 

His experience includes managing corporate investigations for Burns International Security Services in New Mexico, excelling as District Manager for guard and investigative operations for Pinkerton Security Services in north Texas where he was recognized as the top District Manager worldwide in the Pinkerton operation, serving as District Manager for Smith Protective Services in Houston and operating as Director of Safety and Police for Houston Baptist University.  For over 20 years Mr. Daniel has been the only civilian member of the ATF Bomb Council.

In 2007 Mr. Daniel joined the Houston Police Department as Senior Community Liaison and in 2011 began facilitating “Active Shooter Defense” training with the HPD SWAT team.  To date more than 91,000 citizens have been trained in Active Shooter survival by Mr. Daniel and he's considered the subject matter expert on Active Shooter Defense for citizens.

Mr. Daniel is continually researching and developing tactics which citizens may employ in order to survive an Active Shooter assault. He works closely with the Houston SWAT team in order to present the most viable advice possible to the citizens. He also provides “Train the Trainer” instruction for other law enforcement agencies so that they may train their citizens as well.  Mr. Daniel has trained 45 trainers with LAPD and other Los Angeles area departments.
