The Business Continuity Institute (BCI) was established in 1994 to provide opportunities to obtain guidance and support from fellow professionals. The wider role of the BCI is to promote the highest standards of professional competence and commercial ethics in the provision and maintenance of business continuity planning and services.

The main method of entry into the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) is by Certification through a Structured Interview. The Certification process is based upon a set of 10 Certification Standards for Business Continuity Practitioners. These Standards are reviewed annually by the BCI to ensure they continue to be current.
